Compliance Officer (12-Month Maternity Contract)
£35,000 – £40,000 per annum

A fabulous opportunity for an experienced Compliance Officer to join a national Charity based in London for a 12-month maternity cover contract.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Ensure compliance across the organisation with relevant legislation, such as the Charity Act and Data Protection legislation.
    • Act as the organisation’s Data Protection Officer, leading on responding to Data Subject Access Requests.
    • Ensure compliance with essential internal governing policies and documents (e.g., safeguarding policies, IT security policies, data protection policies).
    • Review, develop and implement relevant policies and procedures, keeping them updated with best practices.
    • Proactively audit processes, practices, and policies to identify weaknesses and update accordingly.
    • Address employee questions or concerns on legal compliance and GDPR/Data Protection.
    • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead, providing guidance and support to staff and volunteers on safeguarding issues.
    • Investigate and manage safeguarding concerns and incidents, ensuring appropriate actions such as liaising with external agencies and regulatory bodies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience handling Data Subject Rights, such as Subject Access Requests and Right to Erasure.
  • Good working knowledge of Data Protection legislation, including recent changes made through GDPR.
  • Strong understanding of Safeguarding Legislation.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
